About Us

Scott's Carpet was formed in 1985, our first location in West Islip on Higbie Lane. With very humble beginnings we opened our store, nervous and unsure how it would all turn out. With the grace of god we survived that first 5 year lease. If anyone new us back then they would agree, that location was less than ideal. Although the store had great visibility it lacked parking to say the least. With great ambition to improve on that we moved Scott's Carpet to a brand new building on Montauk highway in West Babylon. This move would turn out to be a huge mistake. After less than 2 years in West Babylon and our nation suffering from the stock market along with the savings and loan failure of the early 90's we had to close that location for good. But again by the grace of god we were able to move back to West Islip back to Higbie Lane in the same store. Somehow it had remained empty and not rented so we started over. After re-establishing ourselves another five years passed by in the blink of an eye or so it seemed. This time we renewed our lease and also took over the adjoining store, so an expansion was under way. Here again God had blessed us and with the extra space Scott's Carpet grew and grew. There was a catch No Parking, this came back to haunt us again and again. With no more room to expand and the need for a parking lot Scott's Carpet found itself looking to move, but this time the owners decided to buy rather than continue to pay rent. After 18 years of paying rent and moving around it was time to stake real roots that would be without fail a good location for years to come. By this time it is 2002 and our economy is buzzing away with real estate headed for all time highs, it would not be easy to find such a perfect location. Once again God has reached down and blessed Scott's Carpet with a very ideal location on Sunrise Highway in West Islip. This location needed enormous work it did not even have working bathrooms or any sort of plumbing, no walls or electric. The parking lot was mostly dirt and would flood with the lightest rain fall. It took much more than TLC but with out giving up Scott's Carpet is coming up on the 13th year in this location. Thank You to all our many customers.

Scott and Charmaine were both local kids growing up in Bay Shore were married at St. Patrick's Church in Bay Shore. This year, 2016 to be married 33 years. They have two fantastic children, a fantastic son-in-law and 1 super wonderful granddaughter. Some people think it is quite a feat to live and work together everyday but it really works well. Scott learned carpet installations as a kid working with his dad in the days when carpet needed to be hand sewn and a huge amount of pride for a good job was the rule. After high school Scott did his service like all the other young men of his time in the US Navy. When Scott got out of the service, needing work and none to be found, Scott returned to his roots as a carpet installer and soon after opened Scott's Carpet In West Islip. Charmaine Graduated high school and worked for Allstate ins. She also worked in the accounting dept at the Long Island Marriot. Charmaine never knew what she was in for when she met Scott in 1981 at the OBI. After their marriage and out of pure economic necessity, Charmaine went to work in the carpet store. Raising 2 children and keeping house were just part of the day as she worked hard with Scott building their business. Scott and Charmaine have one mission and that is to provide a service to all their customers that they themselves would appreciate.
